In the framework of the DOCONF 2021 conference an international workshop about „cohousing as one of the tools of affordable housing” will be held, organised jointly by the  Department of Urban Planning and Design of  Budapest University of Technology and Economics and the CoHousing Budapest Association.

Aims of the workshop are:

  • to develop the networks of the Central and Eastern European cohousing movement, connecting the researchers, activists and housing policy makers of the field
  • to introduce cohousing initiatives from Budapest towards the international community
  • to form (policy?) recommendations to the state and municipalities to unburd the expansion of collective housing projects.

We are expecting Hungarian and international housing experts, researchers, local and national housing policy makers, as well as Western and Eastern European activists of the cohousing movement.

Participants will have the opportunity to raise any issues affecting the spread of co-housing solutions, such as:
– collective self-building,
– developers competitions,
– 4P (public-privat-people partnership) models,
– participatory design processes,
– community land-trust (CLT),
– new types of housing cooperatives, etc.

Participants can suggest topics in the registration form, and we will publish these proposals in advance on this homepage. In the workshop, after short presentations of possible topics on the plenary session, we will open  ’Focus Topic Round Tables’ on topics choosed by the interests of participants.

Date: Oct. 11, 2021.

Location:
Budapest University of Technology and Economics,
1111 Budapest, Műgyetem rkp. 3.

The plenary sessions, topic presentations and recommendations will be held in English.
The working language of ’focus topic round tables’ is English or Hungarian, in compliance with the participants’ needs.

Participation in the workshop is free of charge, but registration is required until October 6.
